Hey, I’m Brandi!

I don’t know if this is relatable? But for years I've avoided creating an “About Me” page on my websites. If I’m being honest, I never really understood how knowing my favorite ice cream flavor (Mitchell's Key Lime Pie) or how many pets I have (2 dogs, 3 cats, and a raccoon that visits our back deck) would help you discover or appreciate what AEP is all about or why we are the planning company that would be the best for planning your event.

...Then I read the book,

Unreasonable Hospitality: The Remarkable Power of Giving People More Than They Expect by Will Guidara

(I’m an avid reader) and I realized that while I don't think that highlighting my favorite hobbies (yoga, hiking, and philosophy) is all that important, I do respect that explaining why I am as a hospitality expert could be very valuable to someone reading this part of my website. I mean, I bill myself as The Hospitality Architect. You should at least know why, I’ve decided.

THIS IS

MY WHY.

I started AEP in 2009, after working for catering companies, hotels, nonprofits, and venues as their right-hand events expert, I realized that my priority was in helping couples do what was right for their special day, not what was right for a sales goal I was given.

I WANTED THE FREEDOM AND FLEXIBILITY TO PERSONALLY GUIDE COUPLES THROUGH ALL THE DECISIONS, WITH THEIR BEST INTEREST AND IDEAS AT HEART.

To help be bold, and brave, and speak up for what they wanted and needed for their own goals and experience.

I wanted to encourage and speak up for couples who had wants and needs and a vision for things and experiences that mattered to them, but weren't successful in finding the support or vendors or visionaries to assist them.

I also wanted to make sure that couples knew they didn't have to spend so much money on every part of the day, because as someone who has now been in the industry for 20 years, I know that half the time you don't even remember certain parts of the day, so why blow your savings on certain things when others might be more important.

but most of all?

I wanted couples searching for the “perfect planner” to know there was a company – with a real person standing behind it – who wasn’t going to push for a specific budget or size or scope of a wedding.
A company that wasn’t trying to get them to go over-the-top or over-invest to make
our portfolio and company photos look exceptionally impressive.

AEP WASN’T CREATED

TO “DISRUPT THE INDUSTRY”,

IT WAS CREATED TO OFFER AN AUTHENTIC, OPEN, AND AFFIRMING EXPERIENCE.

Since its inception, I’ve worked hard to build a team that reflects these values and vision. Planning events is truly my passion because I love people and I love the art and science of hospitality. I love knowing that my work can allow people to enjoy their event more so they can relax and experience the event instead of feeling like they’re working or being led through their own experience. I’m passionate about using my experience, skills, and talents to help people create a day that feels like a true reflection of who they are and what they love.

Oh sure, the "I love love" cliche is often very overused in the wedding and event industry, but for me, I truly do love all kinds of love, and all kinds of people, and in all the ways they want to see their love expressed and celebrated. So look, maybe you’re excited we both like the same ice cream or you’re a bookworm like me, or you have a raccoon you feed off your back porch too, or maybe you think my website has the best photos, I don’t know.

But here is my promise to all my clients no matter why you choose AEP:

  • I'm going to be honest with you, so you can trust what I am doing

  • I’m going to listen to your ideas and understand who you are so your wedding reflects you and your world

  • I'm going to work hard and smart for you because that's who I am

  • I'm going to care about how the day feels because that's what truly matters

  • And I'm going to make the experience fun, because who wants to plan their wedding with someone boring or serious?

But that’s me. That’s AEP. And while I'm still not entirely convinced that anyone
will read this and change their mind about working with us, I hope it
helps the right people find us–and the wrong people avoid us–when it
comes to picking the right team for your big day.
